Mike Denis, MEd. R. Psyc.


Mike is a registered psychologist with over 10 years experience working with families, children, youth, and young adults (up to 30yrs.). He provides support to families, children, youth, and young adults struggling with conflict, anxiety, depression, attention issues, and disruptive behaviors. He has extensive experience with high-risk behaviors including: suicidal ideation/attempts, self-harm, defiant behaviors, and alcohol/drug use. Testing and therapeutic intervention for Anxiety, Depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Eating Disorders/ Disordered Eating, Trauma, and coping with divorce/separation and/or major life events are integral parts of Mike’s practice. He is a certified DBT therapist, and practices Reality, Narrative, and CBT paradigms. He is courteous, respectful & open-minded.

Mike has experience in Mediation, Arbitration, Parenting Coordiantion, individual therapy, and conducting mental health, risk, and unilateral assessments. He is down to earth and practices with a commons sense and realistic point of view of families, conflict, and stress management during separation and divorce. 

Mike spent 8 years negotiating Parenting, Custody & Access, Child Support, Guardianship, Contact, and Children's Services involvement with Family Justice Services, Alberta Justice. He played a key role in the development and implementation of the Caseflow Coordination initiative in Provincial Family Court, and has extensive courtroom and court experience. He has taught Focus On Communication (FOCIS) for Alberta Justice, and has taught the Parenting After Separation (PAS) course for Mount Royal University for over 13 years.
