Mike Denis, R.Psych. #4192

Mike has been a registered psychologist since July 2014. He originally specialized with high risk youth in hospital settings conducting suicide and homicide assessments for emergency rooms, and providing triage based treatment for clients who suffered suicide ideation, self-harm, eating disorders, behavioural disorders, psychotic disorders, and depression and anxiety. He now serves adolescents and adults with high risk behaviours, eating disorders, child/adult ADHD, personality disorders including BPD, HPD, NPD, depression, anxiety, self-esteem and life direction issues. 


During the course of his career, Mike moved from working at AHS at hospitals and urgent care facilities to community treatment in Canmore, and then returned to Calgary to the private sector. Mike is specialized in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) through the Linehan Institute. He is also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy and Trauma therapy. His approach is direct, honest, compassionate, understanding and empathetic. 


Mike is also a qualified parenting expert, who began his career over 15 years ago negotiating and mediating family separations and divorce with Alberta Justice Family Mediation Services. Mike has been a Court Counsellor, Caseflow Coordinator, taught both Parenting After Separation (PAS) and Focus On Communication in Separation (FOCIS) for the majority of his career. Mike continues to be a mediator, parenting coordinator, and assessor for families and the Courts. He serves families through Parent-Child Reunification therapy, Litigation Support for those needing emotional and court guidance, and offers parenting plan advice with developmental and clinical expertise to families . He conducts mental health assessments, risk assessments, and Practice Note 7 (PN7) interventions for the Court, including Voice of the Child reports. 


​Mike spends his spare time working on his vehicles, ski patrolling, traveling, and dabbling in several sports including paddle boarding, surfing, kite surfing, road biking, and scuba diving.
